About

Howdy from Texas,

We’re famous at DV Info Net for our real-names-only policy. DV Info Net was the very first online community in the digital video market to provide valid, usable information from folks who were happy to sign their names to what they write, a policy which has been copied by several other online message boards whose administrators saw the value in what we were doing and wisely chose to follow our lead. Here at Rebel Filmmaker, you’ll see a lot of DV Info Net members continuing to sign their names to their posts, and we strongly urge new Rebel Filmmakers to do the same. However, it’s not mandatory. If you prefer to post via anonymous “handle,” you’re allowed to do so here.

Real names on the Rebel Filmmaker forum are encouraged, but not required.

Why the change in policy? It’s pretty simple. On the DV Info Net message boards, the vast majority of discussions revolve around very expensive broadcast-level HD camera systems and most of our members there are industry professionals. With large amounts of money at stake in the purchase decisions involved in those discussions, the real-names policy is crucial for preserving the integrity of the technical information that’s exchanged on the DVi forum.

The integrity of information is crucial here on Rebel Filmmaker as well. That’s why our forum moderators, site sponsors and article authors will be posting under their real names, and we’ll ask our top contributors to do so as well, if they don’t already have a DV Info Net account. But we also realize that some folks who might just want to drop in to get a quick question answered may not be interested in the real-names thing, and that’s okay… a person can post using a “handle” if they want to.

Forum Rules

The basics: absolutely no politics, sex or religion; they are polarizing topics which serve only to divide and alienate an online community. No profanity or vulgarity please; this is a family-oriented site. Marketing is prohibited without clearance (we do not offer free advertising). Personal attacks and “flaming” will not be tolerated. Be nice, be polite, be cheerful… if you can’t handle that, please go elsewhere. Pretty simple!
